Sports Day warm-up

Airmen from the 412th Test Wing loosen up before taking on the first ever 412th TW Sports Day May 2. Most of the wing spent the morning competing in sporting events and intermingling with their fellow Airmen. “Each unit does an amazing job, but the success of the Test Wing depends on units and people interfacing with each other,” said Col. Sports day 5K

The 5K Run, one of the three events that made up the Commander’s Cup, helped kick off of the day with a run through the base. “Every once in a while you have to get out of the office and do something and meet other people in your squadron,” said Staff Sgt. sports day kickball

That’s what I’m talking about team! Airman 1st Class Ronald Jones, 418th Flight Test Squadron, aviation resource management, takes perfect form during a Sports Day kickball game. Although he and his team didn’t win the game, they would have taken home the trophy for team spirit had there been one. sports day tire flip

Without the luxury of a vehicle to do the work for them, Airmen were challenged to flip a tire five times in one direction, only to turn around and flip it five more times in the other direction. An airman from the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School playfully puts a whipped cream pie in the face of Col. Noel Zamot, TPS commandant. 'We work hard, we should play hard' - Test Wing Sports Day a smash

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Airmen from the 412th Test Wing were treated to blue skies, warm weather and spirited competition during the 412th TW Sports Day, May 2.

Activities the airmen could participate in ranged from soccer, basketball and volleyball, to kickball and ultimate Frisbee.

Three Commander's Cup events, where trophies were handed out to winners, added a competitive edge to the day. Cup challenges included the 5K run, the Warrior Challenge and the truck pull.

"A lot of times we don't recognize what other folks do until we get out there and have a chance to talk with them," said Col. Dawn Dunlop, 412th TW commander. "I would like to give a lot of thanks to the entire [Sports Day] planning team, and the 95th Air Base Wing who supported us with their Security Forces and the Med Group. This was a great opportunity to get out there with a little bit of competition, a lot of fun and a lot of good dialogue."
