412th Test Wing Commander installs new Civ/Mil Group officers and directors

Brig. Gen. Matthew W. Higer, Commander, 412th Test Wing at Edwards Air Force Base administered the Oath of Office to the incoming officers and directors of the Edwards AFB Civilian/Military Support Group (Civ/Mil) Nov. 4.

The annual installation banquet which took place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Palmdale, was an opportunity for community leaders to come together with senior leaders from Edwards for an evening of social reconnection post-lockdown, as well as conducting the business of installing a new slate of officers and directors.

“Civ/Mil has been an outstanding supporter of our Airmen here at TCOTATU for over 30 years and is the role model for other groups throughout the Air Force to follow”, Brig. Gen. Matthew Higer, Commander, 412th Test Wing explained. Gen. Higer went on to challenge all who were present to remain a “community that is indivisible”, referring to the use of the term in our nation’s Pledge of Allegiance.

Founded in 1989, the Civ/Mil Support Group is a local not for profit organization that devotes 100% of its efforts to funding quality of life initiatives at the base. Their most recent project helping to fund the renovation of the Airmen Leadership School. In addition to awarding two academic scholarships to Airmen each year, some of their most noticeable projects include construction and maintenance of the flag park across from Air Force Test Center HQ, renovation of the Airman’s Attic, and monetary support for Winter Fest/Summer Bash and more.
