Edwards Wing Staff Agency Hosts Mustache March Competition

Mustache March is an Air Force tradition that calls Airmen to grow their mustaches during the month of March in solidarity to Robin Olds. Olds was a pilot who fought in the Vietnam War and grew his mustache as a good-natured way to protest against the Air Force’s facial hair regulations at that time. Edwards AFB Wing Staff Agency hosted a hilarious event on March 28 to recognize the mustaches grew by its members.

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. --

Mustache March is an Air Force tradition that calls Airmen to grow their mustaches during the month of March in solidarity to Robin Olds. Olds was a pilot who fought in the Vietnam War and grew his mustache as a good-natured way to protest against the Air Force’s facial hair regulations at that time.

Edwards AFB Wing Staff Agency hosted a special event on March 28 to recognize the mustaches grown around base. Here are the winners:

The Robin Olds: Col. Matthews Caspers, the Deputy Commander of the 412^th Test Wing

Most Disturbing Mustache: Chief Master Sgt. Justin Stoltzfus, the Command Chief Master Sgt. of the 412^th Test Wing

The Mustache That Could: Col. Doug Wickert, the Commander of the 412^th Test Wing

Best Overall Mustache: Michael Seelos, the Director of Staff of the 412^th Test Wing

Most Fitting Mustache: Senior Airman Tristan Tiideberg, Executive Administrator of the 412^th Test Wing

Mustache March ends when Airmen shave their mustaches on the last day of March. It represents the removal of the stigma that incorrectly portrays men who seek mental health services as less masculine.
