Join us for the ‘Go the Extra Mile: Fall Distance Challenge,’ running from Oct. 7 to Nov. 17. This exciting wellness initiative encourages civilian participants to improve their overall health through various physical activities such as biking, walking, swimming, hiking and running. By tracking distance, participants can boost physical activity levels and enhance fitness, all while staying motivated with weekly goals, tips and community support.

Why participate?

Physical activity is universally beneficial, regardless of age, ability, shape or size. Engaging in regular exercise is crucial for overall health and well-being. The immediate and long-term benefits may include:

‒ Improved brain health

‒ Effective weight management

‒ Reduced risk of chronic diseases

‒ Stronger bones and muscles

‒ Enhanced ability to perform daily activities

How the Challenge Works

Register through the Civilian Wellness Portal from Oct. 7 to Nov. 17. Participants may choose to log physical activity and distance directly in the portal or sync data from compatible wearable devices. The goal is to complete a total distance of 84 miles and attend the ‘Wellness on a Mission 3 – Physical Activity, Let’s Move’ presentation to finish the challenge.

Motivation and Community Engagement

While logging physical activity is key, fostering inspiration and community support is equally vital. Use the portal’s Locker Room feature to encourage others, share success stories, and stay motivated throughout the challenge!

Eligibility: This challenge is open to Department of the Air Force Appropriate Funds and Nonappropriated Funds civilian employees, Air National Guard civilians, Air Force Reserve civilians, and Army civilians assigned to Air Force-led bases.
