JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas – Air Force Entertainment, managed by the Air Force Services Center, is rolling out a new, free, family-friendly comedy tour starting in August with stops at more than 20 stateside installations.
“Our variety act tours are free, exciting and family friendly,” said Michael Freund, AFSVC associate production director. “The shows allow our Airmen, Guardians and families to take a break from the pressures of military life.”
The Smash-Up Comedy Tour includes two artists, Derek Hughes and rePercussion.
Hughes is a stand-up magician, fusing stand-up comedy with magic with comedy being a large part of his performance. He’s been featured on various television shows including the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, and America’s Got Talent. He's also made appearances on the VH1, MTV and Comedy Central networks.
Take a look at a Hughes performance:
Hughes will be accompanied by the group rePercussion. According to its management company, “rePercussion is an extraordinarily funny drumming experience! Blurring the lines between stand up, improv and electronic music, they uniquely combine drumming, comedy and crowd interaction. rePercussion brings to the stage a highly entertaining and gut-busting performance.”
Previously, rePercussion has shared the main stage with groups like Twenty One Pilots, Stone Temple Pilots, Imagine Dragons and Kelly Clarkson.

“Everyone should come check out the Smash-Up Comedy Tour for some great laughs and fun with family, friends and other audience members,” Freund said.
The tour began Aug. 1 at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston, and is followed by Laughlin, Goodfellow, Dyess and Sheppard AFBs, Texas. More tour dates and locations will be released soon so check with your installation’s force support squadron for a stop at your location.
