EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 96th Cyberspace Group activated the 48th Cyberspace Test Squadron in an assumption of command and ribbon-cutting ceremonies here April 21.  Lt. Col. Christopher Jerome assumed command of the squadron.

The 48th CTS, informally activated in 2022, is the principal organization charged with conducting cyber security and cyber resiliency, developmental test and evaluation for Air Force systems.  The 48th CTS was activated to match the exponential expansion of cyber test and evaluation demand and increase test professionals required to ensure the Air Force fields and sustains cyber survivable systems.

“This is a very humbling experience,” Jerome said.  “The vision and the future of this new squadron will all be realized in the days ahead.”

This 50,000 square-foot facility will house the DAF’s newest capabilities for cyber-developmental test and evaluation.  The squadron will lead the effort to define, design, develop, and deliver state-of-the-art test capabilities, such as those represented by the Avionics Cyber Range.
