ARNOLD AIR FORCE BASE, Tenn. -- Arnold Air Force Base Fire and Emergency Services personnel trained using an aircraft live fire simulator in mid-February. Live fire training is important for FES team members in order to maintain readiness.
The simulator uses propane and simulated smoke, which allows crews to run a variety of scenarios, multiple times within a short period. Also, the simulator is a more controllable environment, with both automatic and manual emergency safety cutoffs to mitigate as much risk as possible while still providing effective training.
