WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – The Boeing P-26A Peashooter will be the second historical aircraft patch featured in the Air Force Marathon History and Heritage race series, beginning March 1.

The History and Heritage race series will hold six virtual races on different dates. Each race will feature its own historical aircraft patch vital to the U.S. Air Force’s history.

The first featured aircraft in the series was the F-111 Aardvark. The Aardvark was the first fighter jet with wings that could sweep back and forward and was operational beginning in the Vietnam War era until the 1990s.

“We received incredible feedback from the first event in the series featuring the F-111 Aardvark, so much so that the event sold out! We would encourage anyone interested to register early to avoid missing out on this next great historical aircraft” said race director Brandon Hough.

Each History and Heritage race series participant will receive a patch of the featured aircraft for that particular race, an aircraft information card, a finisher’s medal and a downloadable finisher’s certificate.

Participants will have the option to choose between the marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K.

To upload results, obtain a GPS-tracking app that confirms time and mileage.
