MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. (AFNS) -- Senior Air Force leaders and notable industry experts headline the 2019 Air Force Information Technology and Cyberpower Education and Training Event, Aug. 26-28, in Montgomery, Alabama.
Hosted by Air University and themed “Cyberpower: Critical to Multi-Domain Operations,” the emphasis of this year’s AFITC will be on education and training in the realm of multi-domain command and control.
“As the home of Air Force professional military and continuing education, Air University, through this event, will be placing special emphasis on one of the chief of staff of the Air Force’s three focus areas: multi-domain operations,” said Col. David Bosko, AFITC director and cyber chair for Air University. “The quantity and speed of data flowing to the warfighter is growing at unbelievable rates. Learning how to harness this data and then making quick decisions on its potential across several different domains is critical if the Air Force is to win in a peer-to-peer conflict. ”
The event will highlight the importance of the continuing need for industry partners, decision makers, academia and government professionals to collaborate on joint ventures in the IT and cyber domains.
Among the senior military leaders speaking are Acting Secretary of the Air Force Matthew Donovan; Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Stephen Wilson; Gen. James Holmes, commander of Air Combat Command; and Maj. Gen. Robert Skinner, 24th Air Force and Air Forces Cyber commander and Joint Force Headquarters-Cyber director.
Industry leaders delivering lectures include Sheila Jordan, senior vice president and chief information officer for Symantec; Andrew Moore, vice president of engineering for Google Cloud AI; and Jim Whitehurst, president and chief executive officer for Red Hat.
Through an aggressive schedule of cyber and IT breakouts, plenary sessions and panel discussions, attendees will gain insight and understanding of many aspects of Department of Defense and Air Force cyberspace and IT, including enterprise architecture, data transformation, agile development and emerging cyber threats.
