Space shuttle lands at Edwards

  • Published
U.S. space shuttle Atlantis lands at Edwards AFB June 22, capping a two-week mission to the International Space Station. The shuttle, with seven astronauts on board, touched down at Edwards at 3:49 p.m. EDT. Dense clouds and rain prevented the shuttle from landing at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the shuttle's home port. Conditions at Edwards AFB, the shuttle's back-up landing site, were more favorable with clear skies and a trace of wind. The next shuttle mission is scheduled to launch in August.
