Air Force enhances selective re-enlistment bonus program Published Sept. 16, 2008 By Air Force Materiel Command Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- According to officials in Air Force Materiel Command's Manpower, Personnel and Services Directorate, the Air Force implemented a selective re-enlistment bonus program Sept. 15 that features an increase of $93 million in new pays. The changes make this SRB program nearly three times larger than the previous SRB program. Other significant changes include: > An additional 51 Air Force Specialty Codes are eligible. The new SRB program will continue to pay, at mostly increased multiples, the 37 AFSCs currently offered SRBs. No AFSCs were decreased or removed from the existing SRB program. > An increased cap amount up to $90,000. Air Force officials say the increase will encourage Airmen to maximize their bonus by re-enlisting for longer terms of service. The previous cap amount was $60,000. > Expanding the use of Zone E (Airmen with 18-20 years of service). In addition to the explosive ordnance disposal AFSC, the new SRB program adds three other AFSCs: tactical air control party (1C4X1); survival, evasion, resistance and escape (1T0X1); and contracting (6C0X1). Air Force officials say the Zone E SRB will encourage senior noncommissioned officers to continue serving past the time they are eligible to retire.
