General Litchfield to succeed General Gillett as next OC-ALC Commander Published June 17, 2011 72nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Air Force officials announced today the selection of Maj. Gen. Bruce Litchfield as the next commander of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center. General Litchfield will succeed Maj. Gen. David Gillett, who will retire after more than 34 years of military service. A change of command date has not been announced. General Litchfield is presently the Special Assistant to the Commander, Air Force Materiel Command, located here. As the Special Assistant to the Commander, he is responsible for overseeing transformation initiatives throughout AFMC. The command conducts research, development, test and evaluation, and provides acquisition management services and logistics support necessary to keep Air Force weapon systems ready for war. General Litchfield entered the Air Force in 1981 as a distinguished graduate from the ROTC program at Norwich University, Vermont. His career spans diverse logistics and acquisition assignments supporting weapon systems at wing, major command, Air Staff and Joint Staff levels. He has commanded a supply squadron, logistics group and combat support systems wing and was the Director of Logistics, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Hickam AFB, Hawaii. Prior to his current assignment he was the Commander, 76th Maintenance Wing, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Tinker AFB, Okla. As the Commander of the OC-ALC, General Gillett is responsible for the 76th Maintenance Wing, 72nd Air Base Wing and Aerospace Sustainment Directorate. He ensures the center provides depot maintenance, weapon system acquisition and sustainment, as well as installation, services and information support. General Gillett was commissioned through the Air Force ROTC in July 1976 at Texas A&M University, College Station, and entered active duty at Chanute Air Force Base, Ill., in March 1977. The general has served in a variety of maintenance and logistics positions at the squadron, wing, major command and headquarters levels. He commanded an aircraft generation squadron (F-15E) during Operation Desert Storm and was the Deputy Director of Logistics during operations Noble Anvil and Allied Force. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, General Gillett was the Air Force Forces Director of Logistics within the European Command area of responsibility. Most recently he served as Director of Logistics at Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley AFB, Va.
