The 377th Air Base Wing reactivated the 377th Maintenance Group here Dec. 7, 2011, during a ceremony at the 377th Air Base Wing Headquarters.

"This is a momentous occasion," said Col. David Hornyak, 377th Air Base Wing vice commander. "After being established nearly 20 years ago, we have come full circle and reactivated the 377 MXG."

The 377 MXG was originally activated as the 377th Logistics Group in January 1993 and was deactivated in March 2006.

Assuming command of the reactivated group is Col. Thomas Ventriglia.

"Tom has worked tirelessly to get the 377 MXG stood up and is the right guy for the job," said Hornyak.

As commander of the 377 MXG, Ventriglia is responsible for the day-to-day logistics management and maintenance of the 377 ABW. He will command two squadrons, the 377th Maintenance Squadron, formerly part of the 377th Mission Support Group, and the 898th Munitions Squadron, formerly part of the 498th Nuclear Systems Wing. During the ceremony the 377 MXS and the 898 MUNS were realigned under the 377 MXG.

"We are realigning to better support freedom and peace," said Ventriglia. "It's an honor to lead these two squadrons. Both units are filled with great performers and great performances. I look forward to our success."

The stand up of the 377 MXG is a result of the Program Action Directive Gen. Norton Schwartz, Air Force Chief of Staff, signed Nov. 20 which details the transfer of munitions squadrons responsible for nuclear mission support from Air Force Materiel Command to Air Force Global Strike Command.
