  • As an outcome of the 101st Air Force uniform board, Air Force women will be able to wear their hair in up to two braids or a single ponytail with bulk not exceeding the width of the head and length not extending below a horizontal line running between the top of each sleeve inseam at the under arm through the shoulder blades. In addition, women’s bangs may now touch their eyebrows, but not cover their eyes. These new changes will be effective upon publication of the new standards in Air Force Instruction 36-2903, Feb. 10, 2021.

    Air Force Women’s Initiative Team champions women’s health care

    In the past year, the WIT’s Female-Specialized Health Care Programs have driven several policy changes. In February, hair standard policies were changed based on feedback received from Airmen who identified numerous health concerns around the bun.

  • Diversity, inclusion board seeks input from all DOD personnel

    The board will focus on actions to enhance diversity and inclusion and drive a cultural shift to create lasting change in the Defense Department, from recruiting, career track selection and retention; to accessions, assignments, schools and promotions; to military justice and everything in between and beyond.

    AFMC championing diversity, inclusion across the mission set

    As the Department of the Air Force conducts a service-wide review of diversity and inclusion, the Air Force Materiel Command is also taking a look at these issues across the command, with a focus on the overall work climate, barriers to opportunities and identifying areas requiring support and corrective action.

  • AF removes uniform barrier for women, authorizes pants option for mess dress

    The changes, which are effective immediately, are outlined in an exception-to-policy memorandum addressed to all Air Force personnel.

    Air Force building more inclusive culture through Dress and Appearance updates

    The changes, as outlined in an Air Force Guidance Memorandum dated July 1, 2020, include the removal of subjective language and other rules that may have been creating unintentional or unfair barriers for Air and Space Force uniformed members.

    Air National Guard senior NCO breaks barriers

With multiple deployments and unique assignments during her 29 plus years of military experience as a munitions system specialist, Chief Master Sgt.
