  • Fiscal year 21 drives innovation, readiness across command, enterprise

    The Air Force Materiel Command executed more than $68.5 billion across all funding areas in fiscal year 2021, closing out the year 99.9% obligated despite challenges related to COVID-19, Operation Allies Refuge and Welcome, underfunded enterprise programs, innovation needs and more.

The Cobra Dane radar is one of multiple radar systems supported by the Strategic Warning and Surveillance Systems Division, which has branches at both Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., and Peterson AFB, Colo.

    The Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force honored a Hanscom Air Force Base Digital Directorate team with a major acquisition award earlier this month.

    Malmstrom AFB opens Wing1Werx Innovation Lab

    The organization responsible for the opening of the Innovation Lab, Wing1Werx, serves as the hub for innovation activity on base. Their overarching goal is improving the daily working lives of Airmen and to serve the mission by improving wing efficiency and lethality.

    DoD awards Hanscom AFB professionals

    The Honorable Ellen Lord, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, announced the winners of the 2020 Defense Acquisition Workforce Awards, which included members of the Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence and Networks, or C3I&N, and the Digital Directorate, both headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base.

    Agile contracting team delivers COVID-19 protection to Airmen

    Air Force Installation Contracting Center’s contracting experts -- teaming with colleagues at all levels -- showed agility and innovation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic when they quickly got cloth protective masks in the hands of Airmen and their families. It's a great example of how Airmen are keeping the Air Force lethal and mission ready. Following the release of a Secretary of Defense April 5 memo on the use of cloth face coverings on Defense Department property, Air Force contracting offices went to work and had a blanket purchase agreement in place April 9.

    Air Force, DoD rallies industry, academia, service members to combat COVID-19

    An initiative was created as part of the Department of the Air Force’s Acquisition COVID-19 Taskforce, or ACT, as a one-stop shop for defense industry, commercial companies and academia to share creative ideas with federal agencies to combat the virus.
