(AFNS) -- Senior Airman Myah Periman, 311th Special Operations Intelligence Squadron geospatial imagery analyst, was recognized as the 2022 Outstanding Airman of the Year award for the Air Force Reserve Command at Hurlburt Field, Fla., April 22, 2022. Periman supports the squadron’s mission of providing full-motion video processing, exploitation and dissemination for special operations forces engaged in both combat and non-combat operations worldwide. Senior Airman Myah Periman, 311th Special Operations Intelligence Squadron geospatial imagery analyst, received recognition for her contributions to the Reserve’s global mission, April 22 during the 2022 Virtual Announcement Event broadcasted on AFRC Facebook Live. Her exemplary service earned praise and a note of thanks from the highest levels in AFRC. “It’s about stepping up when you’re needed, saving Airmen and American and allies’ lives, and it’s about leading,” said Chief of Air Force Reserve Lt. Gen. Richard Scobee and commander of AFRC. “Thanks for making our command better.” Periman’s commitment to the mission garnered her the highest tier of certification possible, earning her the opportunity to become a mission supervisor and lead a team of six analysts. As the training lead, she was able to increase the flight’s certified Airmen by 30%. Officials in the 311th SOIS lauded Periman’s precise judgment and analytical competency which prevented two civilian casualties during a kinetic strike in a combat operation. Her tireless efforts won her four squadron quarterly awards as well as 10th Air Force Airman of the Year and the Air Reserve Component Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Airman of the Year. “I have been able to see her progress in her career field fairly quickly,” said Staff Sgt. William Cooke, 311th SOIS supervisor. “At the senior airman level, she shows great leadership and decision-making skills.” Hailing from Milton, Florida, Periman serves as a traditional Reservist at the 311th SOIS at Hurlburt Field. She is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in nursing to increase health and wellness skills and is on track to graduate in 2025. “I think Senior Airman Periman’s natural talents and great attitude of wanting to help others and the organization are what make her successful,” said Lt. Col. Lisa Jalbert, 311th SOIS commander. “We are very proud of her and the talents she brings to the team.” Periman expressed her love for teaching and thanked her mentors for helping her advance in her career field. “I want to pass on my knowledge to help others grow in their careers because my mentors are what have been key to my success,” Periman said. “I am very honored and humbled to win this award.” The Facebook Live event of the 2022 nominees on the AFRC Facebook page can be found here.
