UAS Training Enhances Soldiers' Proficiency at Camp Roberts
California National Guard Primary
May 6, 2025 | 1:02
California National Guard soldiers from Detachment 1, Delta Company, 578 Brigade Engineer Battalion, conduct tactical training with the Tranche 1 SRR system, known as the RQ-28A, at Camp Roberts, Calif., May 6, 2025. The program focused on developing proficiency in operating unmanned systems, providing participants with essential skills for advanced reconnaissance and operational support missions.

The training underscored the growing importance of UAS technology in modern military operations. Soldiers engaged in hands-on exercises to refine their technical expertise and tactical decision-making, ensuring they are better equipped to meet the demands of evolving battlefield scenarios.

U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Alan Radtke, unmanned aircraft systems operator, 578 Brigade Engineer Battalion, said "I've flown drones before, but this training has really helped me expand my skills and add more tools to my toolbox.”

Radtke’s remarks highlight the value of continuous learning and skill enhancement in maintaining operational readiness.

The Army's commitment to advancing UAS capabilities reflects its broader strategy to integrate cutting-edge technology into its operations. By equipping Soldiers with the knowledge and expertise to effectively operate unmanned systems, the Army ensures its forces remain agile and prepared for a range of missions.
