About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time General Engineer (NH-0801-03) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Electronic Warfare Group, 772nd Test Squadron (772 TS/EWOM) at Edwards Air Force Base.

Define, plan, develop, and field new and advanced ground test capability for Electronic Attack (EA); Electronic Protection (EP);Electronic Warfare Support (ES); radar; communication, navigation, and identification; integrated avionics; and software-intensive avionics systems to satisfy users and test customers' needs. Manage major and minor acquisition for EA/EP/EW (l&M) program funds.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)

Typical 2026 salary range: $104,349 - $161,313 per year (includes locality)

Travel Requirements: Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) approximately 60 days per year by military or commercial aircraft.

Incentives:

Desired Skills:

- 2 years of experience in design of RF equipment desired

- 2 years of experience in EW test desired

- 2 years of acquisition related experience desired

Major Duties:

- Serve as a systems manager. Engage in the research, development, and integration of new and improved test and evaluation capabilities for the EW Group; determine engineering staffing requirements and assure timely inputs to program reviews, test schedules, working group sessions, etc.

- Work with a broad spectrum of electronics, computer simulation and stimulation, hardware and software technical matters; provide technical consultation to other EW Group engineers, scientists, and technicians, as well as advising developmental and operational testers, contractors, using command testers, and personnel of other government agencies, on ground test technical matters.

- Formulate and apply appropriate project management technical direction, test philosophy, policy, goals, objectives and priorities in order to ensure technical validity, efficiency, and credibility during the development of test and evaluation capabilities for the EW Group; maintain up to date technical acumen in support of this objective.

- Lead program teams as a project manager, being able to gather needs and requirements from customers and squadron experts, organize them in a clear way, and present projects to Air Force stakeholders and outside agencies.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain and maintain Top-Secret security clearance.
  • This is a drug-testing designated position.
  • A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution. (Check OPM Qualifications Standard and Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR))
  • Obtain & maintain DAU Level II for Test and Evaluation.
  • Expert knowledge of acquisition program management practices and principles.
  • Expert knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, and techniques across multiple interrelated and integrated technical and test engineering disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of combat aircraft avionics, armament, radar, sensor, survivability, or electronic warfare systems or related systems/ subsystems.
  • Strong ability to plan and organize work, coordinate between various electronic/aerospace/mechanical engineering and test disciplines, and coordinate with other Air Force, DOD, and other domestic and foreign government agencies..
