Flight Chief, Supervisory General Engineer (NH-0801-04) Published Aug. 11, 2026 About the Role: The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Flight Chief, Supervisory General Engineer (NH-0801-04) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Electronic Warfare Group, 771st Test Squadron (771 TS/EWAA) at Edwards Air Force Base. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a member of the Electronic Warfare Test Engineering Group leadership team providing technical supervision, management, and technical and test management expertise. Serves as a supervisor of technical personnel who accomplishes electronic warfare (EW), survivability, and mission effectiveness test and evaluation (T&E) projects at the AFTC. Additionally, this position has primary technical review responsibility for EW, survivability, and mission effectiveness-related test plans and technical reports. Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards AFB) Typical 2026 salary range: $146,632 - $197,200 per year (includes Locality) Travel Requirements: Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) by military or commercial aircraft approximately 60 days per year. Major Duties: - Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short/long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. - This position is responsible for developing and implementing policies, performance goals, and management programs for the flight; and implements squadron, group, wing, and higher headquarters guidance. - This position is responsible to maintain a core of technical expertise for the integration of avionics hardware and software with armament, radar, sensor, survivability, and EW subsystems and to coordinate the maintenance and development of core expertise with the test wing. - Technical and test management expertise in the avionics area of total weapon system integration is provided, with emphasis on its part in the DOD defense acquisition process and test investment planning and programming. - In concert with operational organizations, this position sustains the AF Test Management Processes. Directs engineering planning for functional and operational suitability of flight and ground tests on air vehicle weapon systems and associated equipment. This is drug testing designated position. A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution. (Check OPM Qualifications Standard and Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR)) Obtain & maintain DAU Level II for Test and Evaluation. Expert knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, and techniques across multiple interrelated and integrated technical and test engineering disciplines. Expert knowledge of combat aircraft avionics, armament, radar, sensor, survivability, or electronic warfare systems or related systems/subsystems. Expert knowledge of flight and laboratory air vehicle/missile test conduct, coordination and supervision, data analysis/evaluation and applicable flight test truth sources, modeling and simulation, technical report preparation, and administrative aspects of flight test programs.
