Flight Chief, Supervisory Electronics Engineer (NH-0855-04)

About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Flight Chief, Supervisory Electronics Engineer (NH-0855-04) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Electronic Warfare Group, 772nd Test Squadron (772 TS/EWOI) at Edwards Air Force Base.

Serves as Chief, Installed Systems Test Flight within the 772nd Test Squadron, Electronic Warfare Group, 412th Test Wing, Air Force Test Center, Air Force Material Command. The flight supports installed systems testing for programs requiring a large, shielded chamber with radio frequency (RF) absorption capability that simulates free space. The flight conducts test and evaluation of complete installed avionics systems using appropriate instrumentation and utilities in a controlled RF isolated environment.

Typical 2026 salary range: $146,632 - $197,200 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) by military or commercial aircraft approximately 60 days per year.

Desired Skills:

- 5 years of experience testing military electromagnetic systems desired.

- 2 years of test or lab lead experience desired.

- 2 years of experience mentoring engineers desired.

Major Duties:

- Supervises approximately 20 civilian and military personnel engaged in executing the responsibilities assigned to the flight. Specifically, this position supervises personnel assigned to the Installed Systems Test Flight.

- Exercises technical supervision over personnel to insure uniformity and adequacy and is fully responsible for the work accomplished by a mix of civilian, military, and contractor professional and technical personnel.

- Responsible for developing and implementing policies, performance goals and management programs for the flight and implements squadron, group, wing and higher headquarters guidance.

- Manages the experience of the T&E work force through assignments consistent with career goals, potential, and future needs of the 412 TW and AFTC.

- Develops operating budgets, strategic road-maps, conducts advanced planning and manages requirements for future improvement and modernization. 

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
• This is a drug testing designated position.
• A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution. (Check OPM Qualifications Standard and Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR))
• Obtain & maintain DAU Level II for Test and Evaluation.
• Expert knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, and techniques across multiple interrelated and integrated technical and test engineering disciplines.
• Expert knowledge of combat aircraft avionics, armament, radar, sensor, survivability, or electronic warfare systems or related systems/subsystems.
• Expert knowledge of ground, flight and laboratory air vehicle/missile test conduct, coordination and supervision, data analysis/evaluation and applicable flight test truth sources, modeling and simulation, technical report preparation, and administrative aspects of flight test programs.
• Strong ability to plan and organize work, coordinate between various electronic/aerospace/mechanical engineering and test disciplines, and coordinate with other Air Force, DOD, and other domestic and foreign government agencies.
