Technical Expert - General Engineer (NH-0801-04) Published June 30, 2026 About the Role: The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time CTF Technical Expert - General Engineer (NH-0801-04) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Electronic Warfare Group, 771st Test Squadron (771 TS/EWA) at Edwards Air Force Base. The position provides technical expertise and direction on flight test of manned and unmanned air vehicles, missiles, hypersonic vehicles, and electronic warfare systems at both the integrated system and subsystem levels. Provides technical review of the planning, test conduct, evaluation, analysis and reporting and also participates in the safety review process. Works directly with different levels of managers such as the chief engineer, test force director, deputy director, project managers, operations officer, contractor and government leads, branch chiefs, division chiefs, other AFTC organizations, DoD agencies, government agencies, foreign participants, and contractors. Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base) Typical 2026 salary range $146,632 - $197,200 per year (includes Locality) Travel Requirements: Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) by military or commercial aircraft approximately 60 days per year. Major Duties: - Lead or advise diverse engineering teams in planning, implementing and executing test and evaluation (T&E) of Air Force systems. - Recognized 412 TW technical expert on one or more aspects of flight sciences, mission systems, or electronic warfare, test and evaluation. - Perform expert level professional engineering work to synthesize mathematical and engineering principles across multiple discipline areas to support the acquisition, testing and sustainment of Air Force systems. - Interface and collaborate with personnel across different organizations including 412 TW, AFTC, AFMC, OSD, foreign participants, and government contractors as required to identify and resolve highly complex programmatic, organizational and technical problems related to the T&E of Air Force systems. - Assist the chief engineer or lead the effort to formulate, direct, and apply test planning, test philosophy and policy, and instructions to ensure technical validity, efficiency, safety, and credibility in test and evaluation of Air Force systems and sub-systems. Broad scientific and technical knowledge and skills in engineering related fields including ground/flight test, modeling and simulation, data analysis, and systems evaluation.
