About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time/ Quality Assurance Specialist (Fuels Chemicals) NH-1910-02 to work at the 412th Logistics Readiness Squadron, at Edwards AFB, in Edwards, CA.     

Warfighters delivering global logistics support for The Center Of The Aerospace Testing Universe. This position involves analyzing, developing, evaluating, and promoting improvements in the policies, plans, methods, procedures, systems, or techniques of the 412 LRS fuels management program.

Location: Edwards Air Force Base

Typical 2026 salary range $47,490 - $113,185 per year (includes Locality)

Areas of Consideration (AOC): Department – wide (DoD)

Desired Skills:

- 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level

- Experience in fields such as quality control, quality inspection, contracting and purchasing, supply and storage, industrial or production planning.

- Reviewing written quality or inspection procedures for adequacy, and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of quality/inspection systems, including sampling plans.

- Computing data, summarizing results, and preparing reports or charts depicting pertinent relationships using statistical methods.

Major Duties:

- Develops and implements procedures to carry out in-depth oversight and surveillance of fuels programs in accordance with Performance Work Statements (PWS), Quality Assurance Surveillance Plans (QASP), Air Force Instructions, and State and Federal laws.

 - Analyzes and evaluates fuels operational requirements through examining problems, or potential problem areas identified by the Chief of Operations, external customers, unexpected fluctuations or trends in statistics, or by direction of higher headquarters.

- Documents contract performance IAW the QASP, AFI 20-112, AFI 23-201, and program requirements.

- Provides a program analysis for upper level management to measure current status against planned objectives.

- Prepares clear & concise written results of analysis through the use and application of analytical summaries and staff study reports.

- Serves as a fuels technical advisor to the Contract Administrator by interpreting technical aspect of supply actions.

- Observes and enforces safety and security policies.

- Formulates and validates budget for Government Furnished Property requirements for future fuels management operations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain & maintain Security clearance (if applicable)
  • Ability to independently plan, design, and carry out quality assurance surveillance program requirements; analyze special projects in relation to contract scope; and participate in special studies, or other work, required for effective contract surveillance with limited supervisory oversight.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of supply principles, concepts, and methodologies necessary for effective supply program operations as outlined in published instructions, manuals, and applicable contracts.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of computer based programs to include Adobe, and Microsoft office suite including the following applications Word, Excel, Access, Database, and PowerPoint.
  • Skill in interpreting and applying product specifications, technical data, regulations, policy statements, contract deliverables and thresholds.
  • Ability to communicate at a high level both orally and in writing to with internal and external customers to include Contract Officers, Center/Wing/Group leadership, squadron Director, Corporate representatives, and others as needed to meet program objectives.
