Aircraft Fuel Systems Repair Shift Supervisor (WS-8268-10)

About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for Full-Time Aircraft Fuel Systems Repair Shift Supervisor (WS-8268-10) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Maintenance Group, 412th Maintenance Squadron, Maintenance Flight Name (412 MXS/MXMX) at Edwards AFB, CA.

 

In this position you will exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work on aircraft fuels/pneudraulic/hydrazine systems and components. Aircraft are uniquely modified for use as test aircraft for research and development purposes. 

Announcement Length/Closes: 10 days

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)

Typical 2026 salary range: $57.98 - $67.65 per hour (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: May be required to go TDY

Areas of Consideration (AOC): Installation  – Edwards, Test Wing

Desired Skills:

- 2 years experience as a Hydrazine Response Team member

- 5 years experience performing performing aircraft fuel system maintenance

- 2 years experience implementing a Master Training Plan within a flight

Major Duties:

- Performs inspection of work areas to observe work practices, procedures, and methods to ensure that proper safety, housekeeping and environmental standards/directives are being complied with.

- Orients newly assigned personnel to the work area and provides instruction in established work methods, policies and procedures, use of tools and equipment, fire and safety regulations, and similar requirements of the positions.

- Provides proper guidance and direction, continuous feedback on strengths and weaknesses.

- Supervises and directs a work force of approximately 5 to 10 civilian employees (WG-5 through WL-11) on a shift.

- Applies Equal Employment' Opportunity (EEO)/Equal Opportunity Treatment (EOT) principles and requirements to all personnel management actions and decisions, and ensures all personnel are treated in a manner free of discrimination.

- Ensures safety equipment and protective clothing/gear are worn when mandated by regulations. Reports any condition which might pose a hazard to safety or health to the appropriate authority as soon as possible after detection.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain & maintain Security clearance
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • Required to wear ear protectors to eliminate engine noise, pro1eclive respirators and equipment due to exposure to toxic fumes from fuel, hydrazine, sealant and cleaning solvents.
  • Subject to rotating shifts, TDYs, overtime, and uncommon tour of duty. May be assigned other duties deemed necessary within the section to support its mission.
  • Required to physically qualify for work in fuel cells and to pass annual physical exams.
  • Subject to call back to meet emergency situations.
  • Must wear steel toe safety shoes.
