Pipefitter, Utility Systems Operator (WG-4204-10) Published May 6, 2026 About the Role: The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Pipefitter, Utility Systems Operator (WG-4204-10) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Civil Engineer Group, 412th Civil Engineer Squadron, Water, Gas and Fuels Element (412 CES/CEOIU) at Edwards Air Force Base. The primary purpose of this position is: To install, modify, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial and domestic water and piping systems (high-pressure potable, non-potable, demineralizer, and reclaimed) to include natural gas, sanitary sewer and associated lift station pumps, meter discharge stations, swimming pools, and remote campground utility systems. Operate, maintain, and repair the water treatment system and associated distribution system, water wells, tanks, and pumps, and wastewater collection distribution systems. Maintains and repairs interior plumbing and fire suppression systems. Announcement Length/Closes: 14 Days Location: Edwards. Major Duties: - Operator for all matters relevant to Water, Wastewater and Gas Distribution Systems. - Provide safe drinking water to Edwards AFB and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth. Required to wear a respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and pass an annual mask fit test. May be required to obtain and maintain a California certification in backflow prevention and cross-connection. Within three years of employment incumbents must obtain and maintain a California Distribution System 2, Staff Certification Classification ‘D-2’ as listed in Title 22, Section 63770, Table 63770-A. Must obtain and maintain a California Water Treatment 1, Facility Staff Certification Classification ‘T-1’ as listed in Title 22, Section 63765, Table 63765-A. Incumbents not maintaining certifications are subject to reassignment and may be subject to removal. Incumbent is required to stay in compliance with the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, 33 U.S.C., Sections 1251-1387, specifically 1323 and the Safe Drinking Water Act, 42 U.W.C., Section 300j-6, (certification requirements), DOD, Defense Environmental Quality Program Policy Memorandum No. 80-4 and Air Force guidance, AFR 91-9, AFR 91-10, California State law, California Administrative Code (CAC), Title 17 engineering (sanitary), Part 1, Chapter 5, Subchapter 1, Group 2, Article 2, Section 7103 and 7104, and CAC, Title 23 Water, Chapter 4, Subchapter 14, Article 3, Section 3680. Must obtain and maintain a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle.
