About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineer (NH-810-830-850-02T03) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Civil Engineer Group, Engineering Division (412 CEG/CENMP) at Edwards Air Force Base.

To provide entry level to mid level civil engineering expertise to cradle-to-crave programming, design, and construction management of multi-system projects at the Air Force Test Center (AFTC) in a developmental capacity as a general engineer, civil engineer, mechanical engineer or electrical engineer. This is a developmental position. All training must be completed, regulatory requirements met & satisfactory contributions made prior to promotion.

Typical 2026 salary range: $47,490 -$161,313 Per Year (includes Locality)

Areas of Consideration (AOC): Department – wide (DoD)

Desired Skills:

- 2 years of experience in engineering or construction management desired.

- Fundamentals of Engineering or Engineer in Training certification desired.

- Experience in Project Management including generating Statements of Work, Individual Government Estimate (IGE), Request for proposals, and technical evaluations for projects.

- Knowledge of standard federal contracting regulations, practices, and procedures preferred.

- Ability to plan and organize work and coordinate the work of other engineering disciplines and architects.

- Experience in conducting all pre-jobsite walkthroughs, jobsite safety and quality inspections.

- Professional knowledge of a broad range of engineering concepts, principles, and practices related to infrastructure engineering (primarily civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering) and extensive familiarity with other related engineering disciplines and architecture to manage engineering projects and programs, determine compliance with various requirements, and recommend timely and economical solutions to complex engineering problems.

Major Duties:

- Serves as the managing or consulting engineer on major construction or improvement projects. Performs planning, design, and construction management work for substantial multi-phase new construction, renovation, and improvement projects.

- Coordinates with internal Directorate functions including other engineers and architects, System Engineers, Resources, etc., and outside agencies such as the Army Corps of Engineers, AFTC, Environmental Management Division, contractors, etc., as appropriate for the project or program. Provides guidance to team members, monitors their progress throughout the project, and provides input to higher levels on performance.

- Coordinates the preparation of and reviews architect and engineer (A&E) statements of work (SOW). Provides criteria and standards for specialized, difficult, or unusual requirements.

- Reviews preliminary and final engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates of A&E firms to ensure design excellence and compliance with specifications.

- Delivers presentations on program status to leadership, including, accomplishments, solutions, and future requirements for support.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain & maintain Security clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering accredited by ABET required.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an SF-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.” Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
