Police Officer, GS-0083-07 Published April 24, 2026 About the Role: The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time/Police Officer, GS-0083-07(GS-0083-07) to work at 412th Test Wing, Air Force Plant 42 (AFMC/412 TW/OL-AFP 42) at Air Force Plant 42 Security Forces (DET 1) in Palmdale, CA. The primary purpose of the position is to perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, arrest or apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the assigned jurisdictions. Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, training requirements and operating methods required to perform the full range of police officer activities independently. 2. Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls to prevent unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are enforced. 3. Knowledge of appropriate use of force and self-defense techniques to protect oneself and others in threatening situations including the ability to subdue and control individuals as required. 4. Ability to operate motor vehicles have a gross weight of 7,000 pounds or less, loading capacities of 1 ton or less, and 2 or 4 wheel drive to transport personnel and/or articles. 5. Ability to work and communicate effectively orally and in writing. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community management, employees, and other law enforcement agencies. Major Duties: Law Enforcement & Patrol Operations: Performs full-spectrum police duties, including armed installation patrol, traffic enforcement, vehicle examinations, and exercising search, apprehension, and detention authorities. Emergency & Alarm Response: Reacts to emergency calls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and SCIF alarms, and executes anti-terrorism measures to protect personnel and high-value military assets. Weapons Accountability (Armorer): Serves as the flight armorer, maintaining strict accountability, cleanliness, and serviceability of firearms for police officers and Military Working Dog (MWD) units. Criminal Investigations: Investigates crimes and complaints outside the scope of higher-level detectives, which includes securing crime scenes, interviewing witnesses, and detaining suspects. Evidence Collection & Processing: Identifies, collects, preserves, and submits physical evidence (e.g., fingerprints, narcotics, weapons) for laboratory analysis while maintaining strict chain-of-custody protocols. Case Preparation & Testimony: Prepares comprehensive investigative reports, conducts suspect surveillance, advises suspects of their rights, and provides sworn testimony in military, federal, and state courts. Command & Control (BDOC): Serves as the primary Command and Control (C2) controller at the Base Defense Operations Center, assessing threats, dispatching patrols, and coordinating with local, state, and federal emergency agencies. Database & Records Management: Retrieves critical information through law enforcement networks (such as the FBI's NCIC), processes biometric data, and maintains daily blotters and official shift records. Detention Cell Operations: Manages the safety, security, and continuous monitoring of all personnel placed in detention cells, ensuring strict compliance with confinement regulations. Incident Command: Acts as the initial on-scene commander during catastrophic events (e.g., active shooters or natural disasters), initiating the Air Force Incident Management System (AFIMS) to isolate threats, establish control points, and coordinate rescue efforts.
