About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Supervisory Youth Programs Director (NH-1701-02) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Mission Support Group, 412th Force Support Squadron, Child and Youth Flight (412FSS/FSY) at Edwards AFB.

To exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the Installation Youth Programs and provide a comprehensive, professional youth program consisting of a balance of well-rounded, positive experiences for youth 5-18 years of age. The focus is on three components: Youth Activities, Youth Sports and School-Age Care programs as defined in AFI 34-144.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)

Typical 2026 salary range: $47,490-$113,185 Per Year (includes Locality)

Areas of Consideration (AOC): Department – wide (DoD)

Desired Skills:

-2 years of youth program curriculum development experience desired

-2 years of experience managing operational budgets desired

-2 years of community outreach and partnership management experience desired

Major Duties:

-Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time.

-Plans work, sets priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work by subordinates.

-Assigns work to subordinates and evaluates their work performance.

-Provides advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.

-Interviews and recommends candidates for positions, promotions, or reassignments.

-Hears and resolves employee complaints and effects minor disciplinary measures.

-Identifies and provides for the developmental and training needs of employees.

-Plans, implements, and carries out a comprehensive youth development program for ages 6-18.

-Provides technical guidance and direction to youth center staff.

-Ensures a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment in all youth program facilities..

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to Youth Programs.

Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.
