Investigation and Inquiries Specialist (NH-1801-03) Published April 14, 2026 About the Role: The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Investigation and Inquiries Specialist (NH-1801-03) to work at the 412 Test Wing, Wing Staff Agencies, Inspector General Office (412 TW/IG) at Edwards Air Force Base. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an extension and principal advisor to the center/wing Inspector General (IG). Implements and manages all phases of the 412th Test Wing (412 TW) complaints resolution and fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA)programs. The primary charge of the 412 TW Inspector General office is to sustain a credible Air Force IG system by ensuring the existence of viable, responsible complaints and fraud, waste, and abuse programs are characterized by fairness, integrity, and impartiality. Announcement Length/Closes: 14 days Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards AFB) Typical 2026 salary range: $104,349 - $161,313 Per Year (includes Locality) Travel Requirements: Up to 15 days per year Desired Skills: - Master’s degree or equivalent experience in public management, administration, or criminal justice is desired. - 2 years of experience managing Wing‑level Complaints Resolution and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse programs, including complaint intake, analysis, and trend identification desired. -2 years of experience conducting or overseeing IG investigations and producing technically accurate findings, conclusions, and case dispositions desired. - 2 years of experience developing and delivering IG‑related training for commanders and personnel, including education on complaint rights, FWA prevention, and whistleblower protections desired Major Duties: - Plans, organizes, and executes the Wing’s Complaints Resolution and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse programs, including receiving, reviewing, and analyzing complaints; protecting whistleblowers; identifying systemic trends; and ensuring compliance with AFI 90‑301 and related guidance. -Develops and delivers education and training for commanders and installation personnel on IG responsibilities, complaint rights, FWA prevention, and whistleblower protections under 10 USC 1034 -Serves as the Wing authority for conducting IG and FWA investigations, determining appropriate case disposition (transfer, refer, investigate, assist, or dismiss), and producing technically accurate analysis, conclusions, and findings -Assists in the execution of the Commander’s Inspection Program by supporting inspection planning, readiness assessments, and integration with Wing‑level oversight activities. -Ensures compliance with governing directives and maintains effective working relationships with senior leadership, higher‑headquarters IGs, and mission partners to support transparent, accurate, and timely IG operations Qualifications/Requirements: U.S. Citizenship Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest Obtain & maintain Top Secret Security clearance This is a designated Drug Testing Position Must complete the Inspector General Training Course (IGTC) within 90 days of appointment Must complete Complaints Resolution training withing 90 days of appointment Knowledge of the laws, regulations, Executive Orders, court decisions, UCMJ, and issues related to the IG complaints resolution process; investigative techniques, principles, and procedures to conduct complex investigations of allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse or other complaints of wrong-doing or inappropriate behavior on the part of federal military and civilian employees. Knowledge of fact-finding, planning, and methodologies in conducting interviews, inspections, and investigations to analyze the nature of the complaint and specific issues to be addressed.
