About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Operations Specialist (NH-1515-03) to work at the Commander's Action Group (AFTC/CCX) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.

In this position, you will serve as a key member of the Commander's Action Group (CAG) with a primary emphasis on enabling automation, optimizing organizational workflows, and enhancing senior leader decision-making through the application of modern digital tools and data analysis. You will be responsible for leading digital transformation and process improvement efforts while also performing the full range of traditional CAG staff functions, including briefing preparation, speech writing, information management, and direct support for the command's senior leaders.

Location: Edwards AFB, CA

Typical 2026 salary range: $103,000 - $150,000 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Areas of Consideration (AOC): Department – wide (DoD)

Desired Skills:

2 years of experience using a programming language (e.g., Python) for data analysis or process automation desired

2 years of experience leading process improvement or digital transformation projects desired

2 years of experience supporting senior leaders in a headquarters staff or Commander's Action Group (CAG) environment desired

Major Duties:

Leads digital transformation and process improvement efforts by applying data science, AI/ML concepts, and programming to automate organizational workflows.

Designs, builds, and utilizes data models, simulations, and dashboards to analyze complex issues and enhance senior leader decision-making.

Manages the flow of information and tasks for the command section, ensuring quality control of all correspondence and products for senior leaders.

Prepares and produces a wide range of senior leader communications, including briefings, speeches, presentations, and official correspondence.

Leads and supports the planning and execution of senior leader events, conferences, and battle staff activities during exercises and real-world contingencies.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Demonstrated ability to apply data science principles to automate processes and analyze data, including experience with a general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python) and data visualization software (e.g., Power BI).
  • Extensive knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, and organizational structure of a senior command headquarters, including the concepts, principles, and practices of a Commander's Action Group (CAG).
  • Superior ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to produce written/visual information (e.g., briefings, speeches, official correspondence) and make presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Knowledge of how to leverage Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) concepts and tools, such as large language models or predictive analytics, to enhance and optimize organizational workflows.
