About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time/Automotive Equipment Dispatcher (NK-2151-02) to work at Air Force Plant 42 (CEF) at Air Force Plant 42, Palmdale Ca.

The Primary purpose of this position is to provide emergency police, fire and medical services to the public by answering emergency calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. Maintains an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to ensure prompt and accurate response. This equipment includes security, fire fighting, hazardous materials, wild land fire fighting, technical rescue and ambulance services at

Air Force Plant 42, a Government Owned-Contractor Operated (GOCO) industrial production plant comprised of 5,644 acres, 3.4 million square feet of building space, 8 separate/distinct aerospace production sites, and a major airfield with two 12,000-foot runways and associated taxiways used to support high performance aircraft. Position is located in Palmdale, CA.

Typical 2026 salary range: $47,490 - $113,185 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: 25%

Desired Skills:

- One year is required to obtain Telecommunicator I and II certifications

- 2 years experience as an ECC dispatcher

- 2 years experience using and maintaining the MONICO fire reporting system.

Major Duties:

- Proficiency in dispatching the correct emergency forces, including fire, security, and medical units, by determining the nature of the emergency in accordance with established guidelines.

- Ability to prioritize multiple high-stress emergency and non-emergency calls, using independent judgment to manage incidents concurrently and determine appropriate response levels.

- Skilled in crisis intervention, with the ability to provide clear instructions and support to distraught callers during high-risk situations until emergency units arrive on scene.

- Experience providing Emergency Basic Life Support Dispatch services, including verifying patient information and determining the severity of the medical situation using standardized protocols.

- Strong ability to operate and maintain various communications and computer systems, including multi-line telephones, radios, and automated data processing equipment.

- Demonstrated experience in coordinating with military and civilian agencies for mutual aid requests and relaying critical information between different unit control centers.

- Meticulous record-keeping skills, with experience maintaining automated activity logs, outage reports, and preparing formal incident reports in accordance with published guidelines.

- Proficiency in utilizing and maintaining reference materials such as checklists, computerized maps, and hazardous materials information systems to support responding personnel.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Knowledge of emergency communications operations.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations to include word processing, retrieval and input of data. A qualified typist is not required.
  • Knowledge of emergency apparatus and the kind of apparatus and equipment needed for the emergency at hand.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing using a calm and stable demeanor while dealing with emergency situations.
