About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time IT Specialist (NH-2210-03) to work at the 412 Test Wing, 412 Test Engineering Group, 412 Range Squadron, Engineering Flight (412 RANS/ENREX) at Edwards AFB, CA.

The mission of Range Engineering is to serve as the sustainment flight for all Range Squadron systems. The flight is responsible for managing all Range Squadron test system support and accomplishing long and short-range internal project support planning. The flight also develops, engineers and tests new systems to satisfy new requirements generated by Range Squadron customers and AFTC Leadership. The Range Squadron is committed to satisfying customer needs, reducing costs, improving mission turnaround time, providing adequate resources and assets, enabling people to excel, sustaining technological superiority, improving quality of life issues, and increasing throughout using best business practices.

Typical 2026 salary range: $104,349 - $161,313 per year (includes Locality)

  • Areas of Consideration (AOC): Service – wide (US Air Force)

Desired Skills:

• 2 years of experience in mission control room set up and tear down.

• 2 years of experience in using drafting and design tools (i.e., Auto Cad).

• 2 years of experience in program/project management or leading teams.

Major Duties:

• Coordinates new engineering projects with a wide range of stakeholders including subject matter experts, engineers, technicians, customers, and leadership.

• Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior personnel, serving as a technical leader on large or complex tasks.

• Uses modern software design and systems engineering principles to create, test, and implement solutions.

• Utilizes established resources and uses logistically-executable techniques to make the most efficient use of available funds and materials.

• Prepares detailed hardware and software development proposals which include design schedules, training plans, system configurations, and resource estimates.

• Performs sophisticated system analyses for flight test programs and other requesters.

• Coordinates project tasks and milestones with Air Force managers and other functional area managers.

• Serves as a Range Squadron technical authority to determine how to apply resources to best satisfy program requirements.

• Applies ingenuity to research, formulate, and develop new system designs using system engineering methodology.

• Provides technical advice, guidance, assistance, and training to a variety of technical professionals utilizing Range Engineering products.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain & maintain Security clearance (Top Secret)
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • DAWIA Certification: Test and Evaluation, Practitioner
  • Knowledge of highly sophisticated aircraft systems, telemetry, data distribution architecture, real-time data
  • acquisition systems and state-of-the-art information systems and computer hardware/software.
  • Ability to recognize and analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results and make appropriate recommendations.
