About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Unit Business Specialist (NH-0301-02) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Test Engineering Group, 412th Range Squadron (412 RANS) at Edwards Air Force Base.        

Functions as Group, Squadron, or Flight Business Specialist on budget formulation and execution; Capability Resource Estimates in support of Host Tenant Support Agreements and Statement of Capabilities; central customer support; contracts; and business case analysis on existing production processes and resources.

Typical 2026 salary range: $47,490 - $113,185 per year (includes Locality)

Desired Skills:

- 2 years of experience in numbers or data analysis desired

- 2 years of proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Suite applications desired

- 2 years of experience in business operations processes desired

Major Duties:

- Assist Squadron Director or Managers with planning, organizing, coordinating, resourcing, training, and procurement needed to support organizational mission requirements.

- Manages assigned programs by continuously monitoring performance, cost and scheduling of organizational products and services. Serve as organizational customer service focal point.

- Assist manager in effectively managing budget through detailed analysis. Incumbent works directly with other budget analysts, resource managers and supply analysts on a daily basis to ensure proper organizational resourcing and customer funding execution. Perform cost formulation and reconciliation work involving preparation of comprehensive analyses/estimates for assigned organizational programs.

- Develop background data, information, and documentation of budgeted funds through budget analysts, resource managers, and maintenance managers/supervisors. Conduct research, identify and analyze trends of organizational spending, customer funding, and evaluate effects of variance in projected versus actual funding

- Conduct business case analysis and formulate recommendations to meet mission requirements, strategic plans, and achievement of organizational goals. Facilitates supporting presentations for meetings/events requiring Division communications.

- Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other base organizations, senior leaders, representatives from other military services, Department of Defense agencies, and other related civilian organizations.

- Gathers data and prepares reports/briefings. Identifies measurable productivity indicators for processes relating to assignments. Supports team members to refine and apply efficient and effective methods and procedures for accomplishment of the work. Documents processes and provides support to lead members. Maintains complete records, which are accessible by team members.

- Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as revising existing spreadsheets, graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic programmatic documentation and databases.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain & maintain Security (Secret) clearance
  • Subject to Temporary Duty assignment travel approximately 30 days per year
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques, system, evaluation methodologies, regulations and precedents, and of basic objectives and policies governing various management operations.
  • Ability to establish, interact, and maintain good working relationships with leaders and program customers using professionalism and critical thinking.
  • Knowledge of operations, products, services, needs and goals of program(s) and organizations served and related customer functions, resources and users.
  • Ability to use computers with standard office software to update databases/spreadsheets, provide correspondence and prepare graphic presentations.
