About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Security Specialist (Security Forces Training Officer) (NH-0080-02) to work at  412th Test Wing, 412th Mission Support Group, Operating Location Air Force Plant 42 at Palmdale CA.     

Purpose of position is to serve as a Security Forces Training Officer and to coordinate, implement, and provide training for Security Forces at Air Force Plant 42, a Government Owned-Contractor Operated industrial facility at 412th Test Wing Operating Location Air Force Plant 42, Palmdale, CA, 93550.

Announcement Length/Closes: 30 days

Location: Palmdale, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)

Typical 2026 salary range: $47,490-$113,185 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Up to 60 days

Areas of Consideration (AOC): Department – wide (DoD)

Incentives:

This position MAY be eligible for paid relocation (Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs MAY be paid). Specifics will be discussed with the Selecting Official.

Desired Skills:

- 2 years of experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to conduct formal or informal presentations.

- 2 years of experience with writing, formatting, and coordinating Department of Defense and Air Force plans or equivalent

- Excellent time management skills

Major Duties:

- Serves as the focal point for the security forces training program, coordinating and implementing all training activities for the unit.

- Ensures that all training program measures and actions taken comply with federal, DoW, Air Force, MAJCOM, and local rules, directives, instructions, requirements, and procedures. 

- Conducts training classes for security forces personnel.

- Prepares lesson plans and teaches formal or informal training courses for personnel in various Security Forces functional activities in accordance with AFls and DoD policy.

- Develops and monitors the accomplishment of security forces training plans and obtains and develops training aids and materials.

- Attends, arranges, and conducts meetings, briefings, and workshops and performs other duties related to Security Forces training. 

Qualifications/Requirements:

- U.S. Citizenship

- Obtain & maintain Security clearance

- This is a designated Drug Testing Position

- Department of War Physical Security Certification conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DOD Security Accreditation and Certification.

- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): approximately 14 days per year.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

- Knowledge of a wide range of security forces policies, procedures and practices related to training functions.

- Knowledge of overall security forces missions, functions, and structure.

- Skill in developing course materials and instructional methods, principals, and techniques.
