About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Aerospace Engineer (NH-0861-03) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Test Engineering Group, 773rd Test Squadron, Structures Flight (773 TS/ENFS) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.

 

The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as a senior professional engineer responsible for test engineering activities in assigned programs/projects. Considered a technical expert of the organization in test engineering assignments; employee provides technical leadership and management in planning, analyzing, and reviewing test and evaluation efforts. Employee applies advanced multidisciplinary engineering techniques and management principles to determine optimum test approaches and procedures for achieving program test and evaluation objectives, and/or to determine operational or technical adequacy of item or system requirements or specifications.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)

Typical 2025 salary range: $104,439 - $161,313 per year (includes Locality)

 

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Desired Skills:

- 1 year of engineering experience in a flight test environment

- Openness to learning/developing expertise in Structural test and analysis (to include flutter, loads, and/or noise and vibration)

- Comfort and adaptability in a dynamic control room environment

- Willingness to participate in hands-on aircraft testing, including Ground Vibration Testing (GVT) and freeplay testing

- Eagerness to develop and implement new processes, techniques, and methodologies to advance the discipline of structural test and analysis

- Experience with Python and/or Matlab programming desired

 

Major Duties:

 

- Performs a broad range of multidisciplinary professional engineering duties associated with administering test and evaluation (T&E) efforts for a specialized area within assigned projects/programs.

- Applies expert knowledge and mastery of advanced engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to modify and extend theories and/or practices in the specialty field.

- Applies a number of diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes to identify and resolve difficult issues and make recommendations which result in significant changes to important areas of test and evaluation programs.

- Assesses, evaluates, and compares test data and results with modeling and simulation results, system performance and mission requirements, test plan objectives, and presents the outcome in the form of plots, tables, and other graphic representation.

- Performs analysis and uses systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document projects.

- Participates in planning conferences, prepares management reports, and conducts technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action.

- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all associated personnel.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

- U.S. Citizenship

- Obtain & maintain Security clearance

- This is a designated Drug Testing Position

- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering

- Knowledge of a wide range of professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, materials, and equipment to effectively apply multidisciplinary engineering theories, procedures, and techniques to test and evaluation activities.

- Knowledge of advanced system/item development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issue and provide technical advice and direction in support of test activities.

- Knowledge of the principles of system engineering and program management to ensure system requirements, interfaces, capabilities, and program factors are considered in planning, monitoring, data collection, analysis, and reporting of tests and test results.

- Skill in planning and organizing test activities, analyzing test data to verify item/system meets established performance requirements, and in providing thorough and precise information to management.
