About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time (NH-0028-02) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Civil Engineer Group, Environmental Management Division (412 CEG/CEVC) at Edwards AFB in Edwards, CA.

 

 

In this position the Environmental Protection Specialist will serve as a Compliance Liaison performing environmental work in support of the 412th Test Wing, 412th Civil Engineer Group, and the Environmental Management Division. Environmental compliance media program areas include hazardous materials and hazardous waste, air quality, solid waste, water quality or petroleum storage tanks. Duties will include: work to protect or improve environmental quality, control pollution, remedy environmental damage, ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations, implementation of one or more environmental programs and serve as an advisor on all aspects of the assigned environmental media, and inspection of base organizations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards. Implements administrative actions to correct deficiencies as appropriate. Additional duties such as facility management or safety may be assigned. 

 

Announcement Length/Closes: 2 work weeks

Location: Edwards AFB, CA

Typical 2025 salary range: $47,019 - $112,053 per year (includes Locality)

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

  • Areas of Consideration (AOC): Service – wide (US Air Force)

Desired Skills:

  • 3-5 years of experience in general environmental compliance
  • 2 years of experience with local, state, federal and Air Force environmental compliance laws, regulation, and policy
  • Experience with database management and record keeping
  • Experience with Air Quality permitting and inspections
  • Steel Tank Institute (STI) SP001 Above Ground Storage Tank (AST) Certified Inspector

 

Major Duties:

 

  • Responsible for small, routine environmental compliance projects or performs portions of large projects assigned to a program manager
  • Executes goals and priorities to support environmental compliance media plans and policy.
  • Supports quality improvement and promotes environmental awareness programs.
  • Ensures adherence to federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and the environment

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Obtain & maintain Security clearance
  • Education requirement High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of related environmental engineering/scientific concepts, principles, and practices to serve as technical authority on a variety of issues related to environmental compliance
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines as they apply to environmental compliance
  • Ability to adapt standard practices, equipment, or techniques in developing planning, programming, budgeting and execution requirements and implementing solutions for an array of proposed programs and projects
  • Written and oral technical communication skill and the ability to present data and tailor information to different stakeholders
