About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Precision Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic, (WG-2602-12) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Maintenance Group, 412th Maintenance Squadron / Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment Flight (MXMD) on Edwards Air Force Base).

 

The primary purpose of this position is: To troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, test, and calibrate a variety of standard and nonstandard electronic and/or physical dimensional test equipment such as microwave equipment, radar and missile test consoles, high frequency sampling and storage oscilloscopes, distortion analyzers, recording oscillographs, and digital delay generators..

Typical 2025 salary range: $100,029.91 - $116,705.04 per year (includes locality)

Desired Skills:

 

4 years of experience of laboratory precision measurement equipment calibration desired.

4 years of experience of hand tools desired.

4 years of experience of Air Force instructions and technical data usage.

 

Major Duties:

- Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, modifies, tests, calibrates, and certifies a variety of standard and nonstandard complex electronic and/or physical dimensional test equipment to include: multi-function digital systems, complete calibration systems, test sets, coding/encoding calibration systems, microwave equipment, radar and missile test consoles, high frequency sampling and storage oscilloscopes, distortion analyzers, recording oscillographs, and digital delay generators, with a minimum of guidance or procedures.

- Coordinates efforts with technical and professional personnel on matters affecting equipment performance, test objectives, and calibration/certification reliability and effectiveness.

- Maintains records and documents actions. Prepares all certification paperwork required and documents work assignments using PMEL Automated Maintenance System (PAMS) computer or Facility Equipment Management System (FEMS).

- Provides advice and technical assistance to supported organizations. Instructs on proper use and systems applications of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. May accomplish special studies to resolve specific complex technical problems presented by supported organizations.

- Uses and maintains tools. Uses various precision measurement standards and instruments such as generators, oscilloscopes, and analyzers to perform functional test and calibration of electronic and/or physical dimensional test equipment serviced.

- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

- U.S. Citizenship

- Obtain & maintain Security clearance

- This is a designated Drug Testing Position

- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position

- May be assigned other additional duties as required

- This work may require some exposure to work under adverse environmental conditions

- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours and travel may be required to facilitate mission needs. Subject to call back to meet emergency situations

- Knowledge of operating electronic and/or physical dimensional principles involved in the production and utilization of oscillations over a broad range of frequencies; the make-up, operation, and use of a variety of equipment such as microwave equipment, and the methods and techniques of precise measurement of electrical and electronic and/or physical dimensional quantities and relationships

- Knowledge of calibration and certification principles in the field of Metrology, root cause analysis principles, and application of calibration tech data principles in the field of Metrology

- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
