About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Secretary (Office Automation) (NK-0318-03) to work at AFTC/CC) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.

The ideal candidate will be an expert at efficiently completing a wide variety of office administration functions and communicating with diplomacy while consistently demonstrating polite behavior, military protocol knowledge, and proper etiquette to reflect well on the Headquarters.

Typical 2025 salary range: $64,503 - $101,988 per year (includes locality)

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Desired Skills:

  • Skill in typing and knowledge of office functions, correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format are needed to prepare correspondence, reports, memos, and other material for leadership.
  • Skills using standard office applications for word processing, presentations, calendar management, calculations, sharing and storing files.
  • Skills using tools for in-person and virtual meetings.
  • Adaptability to new technology and tools.

Major Duties:

  • Based on detailed knowledge of the organization and its programs and operations, manages incoming communications and identifies what needs to be brought to the attention of the Commander, referred to appropriate staff, rerouted to other organizations, or handled personally.
  • Knowledge of extensive rules, procedures, or operations applied to administrative assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office, such as preparing and editing documents, locating and assembling information for reports, maintaining files and records, and generating travel arrangements.
  • Knowledge of the organization and its functions and programs to answer inquiries of a general nature, refer items of interest to responsible staff, subject-matter filing, receptionist duties, and other general clerical practices to support office operations.
  • Knowledge of management and/or program analysis technical rules, guidelines, regulations and precedents with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact, courtesy and diplomacy.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Obtain & maintain Security clearance
  • Qualified typist is required. Resume must include typing speed. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
