Master Sgt. Tyree Griffin is the senior enlisted leader of the Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base, California. He advises the commandant on all matters affecting unit readiness, training, morale and utilization of the enlisted force supporting the enlisted and officer test training mission.
Griffin enlisted in the Air Force in February 2013 from White Sands, New Mexico. He began his career as a B-52H Stratofortress crew chief, completing technical training in July 2013 at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. He was then assigned to the 2nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. Griffin held many positions, including serving as the dedicated crew chief for the 2nd Operations Group flagship, A61-002. Additionally, he has deployed in support of exercises such as Hectic Roller and Bomber Task Force to RAF Fairford in England, flying on a B-52H as the sole maintainer to Moron Air Base in Spain. Prior to his current position, Griffin managed B-21 Raider Operational Test criteria for $203 billion in sustainment and upgrade programs for Air Force Global Strike Command according to Air Force directives and coordinated with outside agencies to facilitate ground tests and develop tactics, techniques and procedures for the sixth-generation bomber fleet.
Griffin also pursues higher education and certification. He is working to expand his Federal Aviation Administration experiences in both piloting and aviation maintenance, with aspirations to use that experience to become a rated officer in the Air Force.
