Master Sgt. Kalvin Moore is the Explosive Ordnance Disposal superintendent assigned to the EOD Flight, 812th Civil Engineer Squadron, 412th Civil Engineer Group, 412th Test Wing, at Edwards Air Force Base, California. Moore leads a 24-member Flight providing on and off-base response support for emergencies involving explosive hazards. Additionally, his team supports the 412th Test Wing’s $1.3 billion dollar weapons and aircraft development mission, clearing explosive hazards and assisting in the recovery of vital test data. Finally, he provides support to the United States Secret Service and the State Department providing them assistance protecting the President of the United States, foreign dignitaries and other Heads of State.
Moore enlisted in the Air Force in April 2003 and graduated from Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal, in May 2004. Upon graduating technical training, Moore was assigned to the 96th Air Base Wing, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. He was stationed there from May 3, 2004, to Dec. 8, 2009. During this time, he deployed three times, twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He was then assigned to Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal from 9 December 2009 to 23 December 2013 as an instructor teaching for the Tools and Methods and Improvised Explosive Devices Divisions. Following this assignment, Moore served as the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight Chief at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington from 23 December 2013 to 29 September 2019. Moore directed a 15-member flight, providing response support to both the 92nd Air Refueling Wing and three neighboring states. Prior to his current position, MSgt Moore was the United States Air Force Explosive Ordnance Advisor for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency serving from Sept. 30, 2019, to July 14, 2023. While assigned there he instructed counter-small unmanned aerial systems and counter-improvised explosive device tactics to United States personnel and foreign military partners. He was also selected to help the agency establish a small-unmanned aerial systems flying program for the Contingency Operations Directorate and assisted with the integration of radiological and chemical detectors on their aerial platforms.
