Colonel Hans N. Buckwalter

Col. Hans N. Buckwalter is the Commander, 412th Electronic Warfare Group, Edwards Air Force Base, California, responsible for executing survivability and electronic warfare testing across a multitude of bases, capabilities, and platforms supporting Air Force system development for the near-peer fight.

Col Buckwalter earned his commission in 2003 as a distinguished graduate of Officer Training School after receiving a degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He has a broad operational and test background including four F-15E deployments. During one of these deployments, he earned an Air Force level safety award for landing an F-15E on only the nose and right main landing gear after a malfunction. Col Buckwalter is a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Test Pilot School and previously served as Defense Fellow for Congressman Rob Bishop, Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources and member of the House Armed Services Committee. Prior to his current position, Col Buckwalter served as Director of Safety, Air Force Test Center, Edwards AFB, California.

Col Buckwalter is a command pilot with more than 3,500 flight hours in the F-15E, F-16, F-35A/B/C, T-38A/B/C, C-12C/F/J, and 33 other types. He has flown over 250 combat hours and supported Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and NOBLE EAGLE.
