Col. Bradly P. Bucholz is the Commander of the 412th Civil Engineer Group and Base Civil Engineer at Edwards AFB, California. He leads a team of over 600 total force personnel. The team of professional engineers, maintenance technicians, EOD technicians, Firefighters, Emergency Management technicians and environmental engineers construct, operate, protect and maintain the installation’s 3,500+ real property assets valued at over $15 Billion with an annual budget over $170 Million.
Bucholz earned his commission in 2003 from the US Air Force Academy. He has leadership experience at all levels of Civil Engineering Prime BEEF, and RED HORSE Squadrons. Bucholz was an assistant professor of Civil Engineering at the Air Force Academy. He was a legislative affairs assistant, policy author, and analyst at Headquarters Air Force. Bucholz served as the Executive Officer to the J4 Director of Logistics and Engineering, United States Central Command. Bucholz commanded twice at the squadron level at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait and Yokota Air Base, Japan. While stationed in Hawaii, Bucholz led the development for combat logistical support to the PACAF Agile Combat Employment (ACE) concept. He integrated logistics and engineering into theater air component deliberate and adaptive war-fighting concepts. Prior to this assignment, Bucholz was the Joint Staff Engineer at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. where he was responsible for developing analysis and recommendations for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs regarding Engineer equities.
Bucholz has over 1,300 days deployed over six tours. He has participated Operations: IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE, SPARTAN SHIELD, FREEDOM SENTINEL, and DELIBERATE RESOLVE. Bucholz is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Colorado and Virginia. Bucholz is married to Erin Bucholz of Berne, Indiana (2006). They have three sons: John (12), Matt (11), and Luke (3).
