6/13/2012 - EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 412th Maintenance Group's Training Division has announced it's forthcoming Professional Maintenance Certification (PMxCP) Data Call. The data call is anticipated to occur in July. Civilian members serving in MX positions will have the opportunity to submit applications for professional certifications during the data call which is expected to run for a 45-day period. During this period, members will assemble their completed package and route them for review through the established routing chain to the Training Division which serves as their local PMxCP Office of Primary Responsibility.

An Integrated Process Team composed of members from Air Force Materiel Command's A4 Workforce Development staff, along with members from each of the air logistics centers and the Air Force Flight Test Center Maintenance Training Division, were chartered to develop a professional certification program that would create a well-trained, educated and certified workforce for the future. The results of their efforts is a program which provides five levels of certification over a career (entry level to GS-15 and beyond) with an ultimate goal of developing "Maintenance Enterprise Logisticians" who have the potential to become the Air Force's future leaders and who possess an "enterprise" perspective.

This data call is an evolutionary progression of activities leading up to and during the PMxCP Roadshow which took place at Edwards Jan. 18 2012. The roadshow introduced civilian Acquisition Demonstration and General Schedule MX members to the new five-tier certification program, featured opening remarks by Col. Robert F. Weaver, 412th MXG commander, and Sandra Wimberly, the program IPT lead. The roadshow also included an overview of the program, a question-and-answer period, and presentation of "Certificates of Certification" to 17 Team Edwards maintainers who completed the course during the pilot program.

While the current program and forthcoming data call specifically targets AcqDemo and GS civilian employees, the IPT has commenced development of its Federal Wage System certification component. Meanwhile, FWS and active duty military personnel who believe they can meet the certification program's current criteria are welcome to submit application packages during the data call for consideration as well.

Interested parties should contact their 412th MXG unit training manager who serves as their local PMxCP OPR for further details and start preparing their packages now.
