6/4/2012 - EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Edwards Air Force Base High Desert Triathlon was held May 19. The sprint-distance triathlon race began at the Oasis Community Center and took the participants all around base. The event consisted of a long (Olympic distance) and short course. The High Desert Triathlon Club is a private organization and is not a part of the Department of Defense or any of its components. The race is intended to promote fitness, increase morale and bring together the EAFB community. The triathlon consisted of a 500-meter swim, a 12-mile bike ride and a 3-mile run. Dan Wilson, 418th Flight Test Squadron, was the long course winner in the male category; Kathryn Diorio, Air Force Flight Test Center Financial Management, won the  women's short course with Darlene Savage, 412th Test Wing, winning the long course for the female category. Capt. Ryan Carr, 773rd Test Sqadron, was the top male for the short course.
