The 95th Medical Group B team was sent back to the doctor after being defeated by the 416th Flight Test Squadron in intramural volleyball at the Rosburg Fitness Center on Monday.

The 416th FLTS won, 25-11, 25-8, in dominating fashion to improve their overall record to 4-3.

"We were able to keep the ball in play," said Doug Wada, a player for the 416th FLTS. "Even without a lot of practice together, we still managed to have great teamwork."

Leslie Stapp led scoring for the 416th FLTS with four points in each set. Steve Salas was close behind with six points in the first and one in the second.

"Our standings improved, which shows that the team is really coming together," Salas said. "A lot of us have played in the past, but we were very rusty. Now we're working as a team."

Rounding out scoring for the 416th FLTS were Wada and Matt Brooks with five points each, Lea Haubelt with four, Jamie DeRienzo with three and Scott Heritsch with two.

"Heritsch is the most athletic member of the team and one of our better spikers," Salas said. "Leslie Stapp has also been scoring a lot for us. We're a very balanced team. There is very little difference between our strongest and weakest player. Other teams rely more on a couple good individual players while we win with our teamwork."

95th MDG B fell to seven losses and is still searching for their first win.

"I would cite inexperience by many players, including myself, as the reason we are having difficulty winning," said Victor Castellanos, 95th MDG B player. "We are getting better, but it is a slow process."

He said the team has displayed marked improvement, but the lack of experience showed during the game.

Castellanos said, the key to improvement is better communication.

Castellanos, Britney Gross, Marie Yap and Shane Polk scored two points each. Beatriz Mercado and James Carpenter chipped in with one point each.

"We have a positive outlook no matter the result, and we all are just out there to have fun while getting a little exercise," Castellanos said.
