A Navy A3D-1 Skywarrior shows off its new paint job, restoring it to its original 1955 appearance. Since January 2010 a group of retired Navy servicemembers have traveled to Edwards one week each month to work on restoring the aircraft. Restoration has included rebuilding the cockpit, removing corrosion in the bomb bay and other hatches and sanding the entire aircraft in preparation for the paint job. Although the bomber is currently parked in Hangar 1210 awaiting small detail work before completion, the Skywarrior will be placed inside the proposed Air Force Flight Test Center museum buildings, which are planned for Century Circle, outside of the West Gate.
