412th MXG hosts first Maintenance Olympics Published Nov. 18, 2008 By 1st Lt. John Sauceda 412th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- On Nov. 7, Olympians from the 412th Maintenance Group and the 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron converged on the gargantuan hangar 1600 for the first Maintenance Olympics. Col. Mark Mueller, 412th MXG commander, provided the opening remarks. As part of the Olympics, competitors engaged in several events, including a tire-roll, a composite tool kit dash, a vehicle inspection, team push-ups, a chock toss, a stretcher relay and a vehicle push. This was part of the 412th MXG's and 31st TES's Wingman Day event. The tire-roll had the Olympians competing at rolling large vehicle tires and T-38 Talon nose-wheel tires through a series of orange cones. The composite tool kit dash tested their speed and attention to detail as competitors sorted through a box of loose tools, looking to replace those belonging to their CTK in the shortest time. In team push-up, four team members formed a square, with each person's feet on a teammate's back working together to grunt through the highest number of synchronized repetitions. Additionally, attendees were able to view an F-16 weapons load demonstration provided by a weapons standardization load crew. After three hours of competition, the 412th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron came out as the victor and took home the highly-coveted first place 412th MXG Maintenance Olympics Wrench. The 412th Logistics Test Squadron took second while the 412th MXG staff took third.
