Recruiting efforts pay off in form of young, bright engineers

Kevin Butler, 775th Test Squadron, is a flight test engineer responsible for making sure weapon-related integration is being tested appropriately, currently for the 419th Flight Test Squadron. Butler has been at Edwards for a little over a year after graduating from U.C. Davis with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and then a master’s degree from U.C. Airmen from Bioenvironmental dropped by on their annual check to make sure each member of the flight were properly trained on how to fit their different masks. The masks are used for various work on aircraft structures to include painting and corrosion treatment. A machine connected to the masks tested each member by having them simulate different behaviors and movements to ensure the masks fit properly. Supervisors from the Fabrication Flight said they appreciate the Bioenvironmental Engineering Team coming to them as it saves precious work time by not having each maintenance member go to the 412th AMDS for the annual check.
Last December, air traffic controller Harold Watson III, 412th Operations Support Squadron, Space Positioning Optical Radar Tracking, or SPORT, tracks and maintains communication with Edwards pilots and other air traffic control facilities, which plays a crucial role in the test mission. Ways to make it through this flu season
#OTD 9 Jan 1943 at Edwards - The first flight of the Lockheed XC-69 took place from Burbank, Calif. to Muroc. It was piloted by company test pilots Edmund Allen and Milo Burcham. The four-engine, propeller-driven aircraft was designed by Kelly Johnson and was developed from the Lockheed L-049 Constellation airliner.
