  • Partnerships strengthen security forces capabilities

    The model provides AFSFC with in-house, dedicated contracting subject matter experts from AFICC’s 771st Enterprise Sourcing Squadron’s Security and Protection Flight to handle strategic acquisition efforts for individual protective equipment, deployment-ready logistics detail equipment, small arms and light weapons accessories, and non-lethal weapon systems.

    AFSVC launches pilot program for online food ordering at NAF operations

    As part of the Air Force Services Center’s enterprise-wide E-commerce initiative, the Nonappropriated Fund Food and Beverage Branch is launching a pilot program bringing online food ordering and pick-up to NAF food operations. Air Force Global Strike Command installations are the first onboard to test the online food ordering system.

    Digital Campaign virtual industry event slated for Sept. 21

    The event will be conducted via Microsoft Teams Live Event from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET and will be hosted by Dr. Will Roper, assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics, and Gen. Arnold W. Bunch Jr., commander of Air Force Materiel Command.

    Edwards testers integrate CRIIS on F-22 Raptor

    The 411th Flight Test Squadron in conjunction with the 412th Range Squadron achieved the first successful flight of the Common Range Integrated Instrumentation System (CRIIS) at Edwards Air Force Base, California, Aug. 5. This event marked the first flight of the CRIIS at the Edwards Flight Test Range, and it was also the first flight on a fifth-generation fighter platform.

    772nd Test Squadron integrates ground-based simulator into Orange Flag Test Event

    The 772nd Test Squadron’s Integrated Facility for Avionics System Test (IFAST) recently participated in the July 2020 Orange Flag test event. Orange Flag is a multi-domain test series focused on interoperability and bringing test as close as possible to the warfighter through operationally-relevant testing early in the development cycle.

    Stars shine bright at Edwards

    You may not know it, but Edwards Air Force Base is a movie star. Well, sort of… Sometimes Edwards AFB is like an extra in the background you have to squint to notice. In other instances, Edwards AFB is a familiar face you slowly recognize with a “Hey, that’s Edwards.” Then there’s are occasions where Edwards AFB - the base, the myth, the legend is front and center no doubt about it.

    No longer stealth: F-117A can be seen at Hill Aerospace Museum

    The Lockheed F-117A is possibly the rarest Air Force aircraft with only 64 ever produced and the Hill Aerospace Museum recently became the new home of one.

    Air Force conducts latest hypersonic weapon flight test

    The Air Force took another step towards fielding a hypersonic weapon following its final captive-carry test of the AGM-183A Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon under a wing of a B-52 Stratofortress off the Southern California coast, Aug 8.
