Hill A&FRC services go virtual amid COVID-19

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- In the midst of social distancing and teleworking, Hill’s Airman and Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) has adopted online platforms to support Team Hill and their families.

The A&FRC is a one-stop shop for all active duty, guard, reserve and retired members, as well their families for transition assistance, financial planning, emergency financial assistance, employment assistance, deployment support, exceptional family member support, casualty assistance, and relocation assistance.

“We still offer all of our support services, but some services that would have happened in person, are now accomplished virtually,” said Master Sgt. Amber Costello, A&FRC noncommissioned officer.

The center recently held its first virtual spouse deployment briefing after canceling the in-person workshop due to the pandemic. The briefing provided information on deployment resources and programs available to families while their spouse is deployed or on a remote tour.

“We understood that providing this briefing could alleviate some of the stress that spouses were feeling with a pending deployment, on top of everything else that was going on,” said Costello. The feedback was positive and the event set the standard for how the center conducts workshops and consultations in the current environment.

Most of the center’s one-on-one consultations and workshops have moved to online platforms to ensure they are still meeting the need of their customers.

Currently, the A&FRC is providing services by appointment only and can be reached at 801-777-4681 or by email at hill.afrc@gmail.com.

“We are still here to support you during this critical time. Even if we don’t offer the service you are looking for, we can connect you with an individual or agency that can help,” said Costello.

Procedures have been put in place to ensure social distancing is maintained if a client does need to come into the center for services.

You can follow the center on Facebook at Hill AFB A&FRC where new resources are being added all the time.
