Draft environmental assessment available for relocation of Afghan special immigrants, families at JB-MDL

JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- The Department of Air Force recently announced the availability of the draft environmental assessment for relocation of Afghan special immigrants and their families to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. 

The study evaluates the temporary relocation of up to 9,500 Afghan special immigrants to the New Jersey installations.  The proposal is to use existing structures and establish a tent city.  Public comments are requested no later than close of business Aug. 28, 2021.
